just noticed that neil connery is also in moscow covering whats going off in the seige, must be getting ready for something to happen if theirs two correspondants there
You've got to remember how expensive foreign news is... all that satellite time for one thing. It's amazing how ITN manages to still be a strong and engaging competitor to the BBC when it has ten times the resources... We haven't seen Neil Connery on screen for months... but then why do we need to see Africa coverage when the news agency feeds cover the big stories. ~Yes, it would be nice, neil's excellent, but at least ITN cover the domestic stuff well, and throw resources to the really big stories that matter to people in Britain.
I am not sure I agree. ITV should be investing adequately in covering the world. ITN used to produce a world news programme - they simply would be unable to do that now, seeing as the Moscow, Far East, Northern Ireland and Australia operations have been shut down. Have they opened any new ones? No is the simple answer. Australia, South America, Russia and the Far East must be covered in a world in which the news bulletin has an increased responsibility to report what's happening. Consumer reports, entertainment stories and all the fluff ITV love, and yes I realise it's cheap, I do not belive are what people who watch the news believe a news bulletin should be about. And it shows in the 10.30 getting such poor viewing figures!!
I notice there has been a slight change to the opening titles on the ITV News Channel - the flying cubes animation is now shown on the newswall in the overhead shot at the top-of-the-hour, and then the squares move apart to reveal the story graphics.
Live with Angela Rippon was again presented by John Nicolson this morning, isn't Angela supposed to be back by now? and where's Carol?
Did John have a co-presenter(s) this morning or do the show on his own?
The rest of the day has been UTV's Lynda Bryans, ITV Wales' Lucy Owen and Tyne Tees' Jonathan Morrell so the entire day after 11am has been in the hands of regional presenters.
Although having said that, Lloyd Bracey seems to have randomly popped up at 9pm now, an unusual time for a presenter to start their shift

Angela was still away from her LBC 97.3 show today, but is in the schedule for next Sunday, so I guess she will be back at the News Channel next weekend too.

Lucy and Lynda did the newswall stuff in the usual way.
Very strange just there on the sports update. Phil Gayle has just cited Tim Henman as being 3-1 down in the second set in the fourth round of the US Open.
Glad to see they have stuck with the PM's news conference and not taken the lunchtime news.
