Well BBC News are still showing other news stories I wonder whether Felicity will be doing a sports roundup esp after such a long shift presenting on the news channel - where was Joyce Ohajah or Owen Thomas you would have thought they would have had another person in to cover as well

well Chris Rogers is doing the local London bulletin, so i wouldn't be surprised to see him doing 11 to 12 on the News Channel

What the heck is going on on ITV News? Some foreign voice is talking over the report.

Guess what - they have let themselves down its prerecorded half hours with rachel mcT. The thing that annoys me is in the first live half hour rachel (a presenter i think is wasted on the morning news) was going on about itv's 'continued coverage' and live footage. Then from 11.30 the same! And the titles say 'Live with...' . How can ITV get away with faking it - surely it should say 'recorded earlier'. And they were doing so well!

I agree completely. If they're going to repeat stuff they should at least be honest about it.

From my understanding if there were any dramatic developements she would have gone live again on itv nc and perhaps even itv1 as they have little news summaries through early hours of the morning.

You can't expect one person to present constantly for nearly seven hours - they are supposed to have a least an hour lunch break!!

Makes no sense. What's the point of having a presenter standing by to go live if something happened. Why not just have them present the news and then they're there on camera if something happened.

Plus this whole 'lunch break' thing. Whatever. The pope's death is a big story. Get another presenter in for the few hours night time cover. Sky managed to have two presenters right through the night. I'm not a big fan of Sky, but they obviously know what they're doing. If it happens they're prepared and the presenter has some support from a colleague. ITV's attitude seems to be 'we know there's a big story happening imminently, but no-one's watching. Let's just play some VT and be resign ourselves to being slow off the mark and third best.'

I once witnessed the Early Morning News on ITV one morning a few weeks ago when they actually shamelessly repeated the story from the top of the show about 10 minutes later, same report, same 'on location' interview with correspondent as if it was live. It was incredibly patronising. Maybe their usual viewers are goldfish and don't realise that the story was all recorded and being repeated again.

Mind you I'm in Freeviewland where their News Channel's so good they decided it doesn't matter enough to go missing a few months. Don't miss it one bit.

Not to sound like being a complete a**ehole but at the end of the day it is money that is stopping being live 24-7 it means aving extra crew in to cover for those 7 hours as well as an additional presenter. They won't do something that increase the channels loss unless it is something like an election where it is being simulcasted on itv1 as well.
They have in the past on gone live when something dramatic as occured Rachel would be ready to go down to the studio at any moment to do a live update
How many people at 2am in the morning when they get back home from a night out or from work say 2 'I know I will watch the news'

I'm not so bothered about the 1-5.30am period - I just can't understand why it couldn't have been live from 11-1 - Especially after the link from the news at 10.30. Could have even kept Chris for a few hours extra... Angela is being fantastic this morning. I also notice Carrie Frais has taken over Phil Gayles role of being on the nc all the time!

It is live until midnight, isn't it?

Yes, but you don't get any live pictures or time-sensitive references in the 11.30 half-hour as that bulletin is repeated between 12 and 1.

Felicity didn't do the 10.30 sports round-up... I think it was Steve Scott.
