Well i would have thought that a lot of viewers switch over the the nc after the lunchtime news. Most daytime viewers tend to flick through the channels - louisa preston had very little charisma and they used my least favourite shot the whole time - quite distant with a 1/3 of the desk and 3 and a half squares in the background! looks so static! - wheres lovely leyla!
Where was Nick - isn't he supposed to be on the NC up until 2...
Was he on at 3 - 4, since he did the Evening News...
Hopefully come April 11th, they'll sort something out with the news channel and presenters.
Technically if they can use the second studio as they have been doing, I can't see any reason why Alastair couldn't continue till 12:30 coming from the second studio for part of it.
Then with the hour of lunchtime, you'd think that Nicholas and Katie would continue on the News Channel, half an hour's a bit short, so maybe they will stretch them till 3pm.
Then have the Evening News preview at 3, and Steve & Felicity 4-7 (using the second set again).
Then post 7pm they'd have people like Leyla, Chris, Owen, Carrie, etc. who they could use to keep double headed through till midnight - theorectically.
And then it would just be a case of getting weather presenters either live or recording more bulletins, and getting sports presenters in to do the sport. Obviously this is easier for Sky News, with Sky Sports News in the same building, and for News 24 with BBC Sport in the same building. But of course they could at least higher a couple of presenters to do updates through the day.
And looking further into the future, the News Channel will be getting a new head that will most probably make improvements. It's done well to come as far as it has in the past 14 months or so, but there's still a long way to go. Then of course the more ITV NC move towards Sky News, the more innervations and technology Sky will introduce to keep them ahead.
Is there any policy at ITV regarding the introduction of the news bulletins on ITV1. Sometimes the announcers introduce the presenter, sometimes they dont! Does it just depend on how the announcer feels on the night?
How are the presenters supposed to become household names if we never here their names on air?
I think its about time ITN re-introduced the voice over in the title sequence.

Well it's really no-one's fault at times, it is likely that the ITV1 announcer will have a script with who is presenting the News, which they will have recieved from ITN or got out of the Radio Times. But it could be likely that could be liable to change at any minute for any reason, thus ITN might not be able to contact LNN to say that the Presenter has changed. It was like that sometime ago when Lucy Alexander did the 10.55 summary, even though it was supposed to be Owen or Catherwood.
I feel quite sorry for Nicholas Owen, the second day he's been doing these really long shifts, as he must arrive to work sometime before the 10.55, so 10.00am the latest he would arrive, then he has to do 12.30pm, the 6.30pm and the 10.30pm! Where has Mark Austin been too? You would think they'd give the NC presenters more exposure if they're having to use Owen for all of the main bulletins.

I love the thought that ITV1 announcers are getting their scripts from the Radio Times. Although with ITV these days, nothing would surprise me.
I think ITN will have advised ITV who is reading the bulletin in good time before broadcast...

They get it out of the radio times
Is that just for the news or other programs aswell?
Announcer's don't get presenter information from the
Radio Times
- at least they shouldn't have to resort to that! Live programmes (like news) normally have their PA check the on and off-air times with transmission and will confirm the presenters then. Recorded programmes should have a log with the TX tape of every detail about the programme, including the presenters. Most programmes will also have the presenters named on the VT clock too.
With the EPG changing on Sky and 'News' having its own section I hope that the three UK News channels are grouped together, giving the ITVNC a level playing field.

At the moment, the companies get 3 EPG numbers - for example Sky News can use 501, 502 & 503. S4C~2 has 519, 520 & 521, but for some reason the ITV NC is using 525, 526 & 527... why not 522?
