Wondering when they're going to rename it the Phil Gayle News Channel, every time I turn on he's on !!! He was on this morning, and at 10.30pm he's still there.
Same here for some reason, he does tend to fluff his lines quite alot and he isn't brilliant at times, but when he is on his own he is actually pretty good, I remember him being brilliant on Big Breakfast News in the mid 1990's, but when he jumped to the NC he wasn't as good, but as he has been there for a couple of months now and he is on quite often you do get used to his style of presenting.
Interesting to see So Rahman presenting the Morning News
And it looks like Lucy Owen is doing a three-day stint in London
I didn't know So did last night, he has done overnights on the NC before, as he did it over Christmas last year. I thought it was Phil Gayle who was on all night as he was still there at 12.30am this morning, so I assumed he was on all night and then he was back on at 9.00am, does this man get no sleep?
I'm getting used to Lucy Owen, she is really good NC material.
In case anyone is wondering, today's Bank Holiday ITV News Channel looked like this..
07.00 Phil Gayle
10.00 Lucy Owen
12.00 Phil Gayle
12.30 Lucy Owen
14.00 Chris Rogers
15.00 Chris Rogers and Lucy Owen
16.00 John Nicolson and Lucy Owen
16.30 John Nicolson
18.03 Chris Rogers
There was over 3 minutes worth of breakfiller at 6pm, they probably had problems getting organised in the CSO studio
I must admit that steve has been brilliant at presenting the weekend bulletins; i think that next year when mark austin is presenting the news at ten thirty steve should do the evening news as he as good rapport with most of the female presenters who present it
I thought it was Phil Gayle who was on all night as he was still there at 12.30am this morning
You do realise that the NC is only live till midnight?!
Thought Phil did have a 7-hour break - he finished at 12 and was back on air at 7am!
I know it's taped overnight, but I always assumed that the overnight presenter makes their first appearance at 12am, I went to bed at like 12.30, so obviously I didn't see it any later, I would have thought So Rahman would be on at 11pm or 12am not 1am.
I don't watch the NC at night as much as I used to (due to work ) so I guess I've missed the odd thing.
I'm hoping the whole ITV News line-up gets back to normal this week or next week, so ie we have Nicholas Owen back on the Lunchtime, Mark and Mary back on the Evening, Trev back on the 10.30 and Steve and Felicity on the NC.
