Yes, but the Evening News has managed without a break for the past year, why have one now? They can cover at least one other story in the time it takes to have a break, plus they finish at 6.55.
Don't forget that it's not up to ITN whether there are ad breaks or not. It's entirely in the hands of the network.
You cant really blame them when on Tuesdays the Evening News is the second most watched programme of the day after Emmerdale.
Great to see Leyla Daybelge at breakfast time, alongside Owen Thomas, whoever he is.
Speculation who could take over Leyla's role today - could it be Nicholas on his own at 1pm, Chris Rogers[?] by himself at 2.
The ads last week were due to the Shipman documentary having no ads. ITV1 would have been given permission to air the ads in other places - i.e. throughout the week on the Evening News.
I've been meaning to comment on this for a while, but I must say that the difference in agenda between the Evening News and the News at 10.30 has become even more pronounced in the past month or two.
They 'dumbed up' the bulletin a bit mid-way through last year, but it's certainly been beefed up some more this year - and they are obviously making greater efforts to make it distinctive.
I guess this has been mentioned before but there's too many pages to go through!
I don't understand why ITV does not promote the News Channel on itv.com
Where's the programme schedule, the promotion of Alastair and Angela's shows, the presenters, the reporters etc. It costs peanuts to add this information to a website.
I can imagine the News Channel being promoted more heavily later this year once it's back on Freeview across the country.
I think it's caused ITV alot of embarrasement losing the News Channel on Freeview just as it was beginning to estabhlish itself on the platform - rating second to BBC News 24.
I still think they'd have been better off time sharing with ITV3. The ITV3 daytime schedule is appalling, and News Channels aren't really designed for Evening viewing, so having ITV News till 6.00pm with ITV3 from 6pm through to the Morning News would have been a far better service.
What's going on with the news channel at the moment, when I've put the channel on it's been a single presenter, plus at 3 we had Chris Rogers, where are Mark & Nina or even just Nina.
That's what I don't like about the channel how the schedule isn't following any routine. It seems to do ok with Andrew & Lucy, then Alastair, but after the lunchtime news it goes totally wrong.
Hopefully when the longer Lunchtime News and the election are out of the way it should flow better.
Nicholas & Katie could continue on the news channel 1:30-3pm, with the Evening News Preview at 3, then Steve & Felicity 4-6:30pm.
Surely now that we've seen what they can do with the second studio, they could and perhaps should use that more, especially extending Alastair till 12:30 and for virtually the whole of the 4-6:30 programme.

I guess Mark was away from the office this afternoon doing his Jamie Oliver interview. Nina wasn't on yesterday either.
I guess we will see some schedule changes in April, when the lunchtime news is rejigged.
Don't forget that the News Channel will also soon be getting a new boss, so that may well bring about some tweaks to the schedule.
Is it not great to hear the words ITN read again on television by Mark Austin: "E-mail us at whateveritwas@itn.co.uk. "
A much better name than ITV News.

Ang on a min how is it much better? for one its the SAME name. And channel 4 doesnt use ITN news, so why should ITV? The so called big difference you think between Independent Television News and Indepenedant Television News, I will never know. Face it, its gone.
