I hope the ad break is not going to become a permanent fixture, usually if the 6.30 has one, the 10.30 won't. But this week both have. The Evening News has been quite strong this week, but the ad break ruins it. The programme, with a break, only has about 20 minutes of news, compared to the 25 minutes on the Six.

But ITV is a commercial channel isnt it, and the BBC can afford to put it on without breaks.

That background behind Layla looks similar to the one in Granada News bulletins.
It's more obvious in the wide shot rather than the close-up.

Is that male newsreader above called So Rahman?

If so, what's So short for?

It is So Rahman and So is short for Sohail. See here

I like So Rahman, but I've found his voice slightly annoying, I have found Tim Backshall's (from Lookaround) annoying also...

I am beginning to enjoy the newsreading style Lloyd Bracey has. Wasn't too struck at first, but has got better. Let's see him do at least a couple of Weekend News'.

Yes, but the Evening News has managed without a break for the past year, why have one now? They can cover at least one other story in the time it takes to have a break, plus they finish at 6.55.

Nicholas Owen and Andrea Catherwood are presenting the budget programme on Wednesday 16th 12.30pm till 2pm. Thought they might have used Katie Derham, with her going to present the new lunchtime bulltin with Nicholas Owen.

Last year Nicholas presented the programme, with Alastair Stewart at the newswall.

I'm disappointed they're not using Alastair Stewart for the Budget, especially after him winning Newsreader of the Year. It would be just up his street - lots of political interviews and analysis.

Don't forget that it's not up to ITN whether there are ad breaks or not. It's entirely in the hands of the network.
