In London Tonight they say the presenters with the first names (e.g. The national and internation news with Bill and Nina), but in Meridian Tonight they say the presenters full names (e.g. The ITV Evening News with Bill Neely and Nina Hussain). What do the other regions do?

UTV Live: Full names, if they have time

Calendar: Full names, if they have time

North East Tonight: Full names, if they have time

Hmmmmm, at 12:00 today the ITV News Channel has gone blank on NTL!!!!!

Does anyone know when the pictures will be coming back?

Yes, went blank here on freeview aswell. I don't think Andrew Harvey apoligised for the break, did he?

Anway, the Lunchtime News is like yesterdays using very tight shots and Nick is just standing up. When they zoomed in at the start there was a grey board down the middle walkway to the desk so I wonder whats happening there?

I really hope the ITV News Channel uses this virtual studo when they need to (e:g: at 5:30pm) and have two presenters as they can obviously do it (quite impressively aswell).

EDIT: Why don't they just use the virtual studio when theres a problem in the main studio, the nc do so why is it different for itv1? Its better than just seeing nick stand up for the whole bulliten which I think is a bit stupid.

Well, it is certainly impressive what they can do with that virtual studio, certainly any non - tv forumer would probably not notice the difference. I agree that this should be used more with the two presenters, plus the standing up.

It would be good if they could squeeze at least a single bench in there for guests - it looks odd with the guest perched on a chair.

Still, it's so much better actually having the guests in the studio rather than in the newsroom.

Im Confused Confused:
Why exactly are they using the virtual studio? Why would they need studio 2 to rehearse in for the election if they are going to have a similar set up as last time (GIR Atrium). If anything surely they would need to rehearse in studio 1 for all the virtual presentation they do on election night.
Anyone got any ideas?

Didn't News room say (either in the election thread or this one) that the main presentation was coming from Studio 2 this time?

Thanks, I must have missed that.
If thats the case then I think thats a shame as I dont think Studio 2 is suitable for election programmes- anymore than two guests and it begins to look cramped and the desk too small.

I guess the studio furniture may be different on election night

I believe all News broadcasters have other broadcasters feeds in their gallery as well as their own feed. For example i expect Sky have both ITV News and BBC News on in theirs.

That's true - all news channels and programmes have their rivals showing in the gallery. For example, BBC World has CNN International, Sky News, plus News 24 etc. The BBC National News has its domestic rivials showing, such as ITV.
