Just to complicate matters further, If the News Channel was in the second studio this morning, where did they do the ITV News Summary at 10.55am?

to make matters even more complicated there is a smaller CSO studio which is sometimes used for bulletins, the same thing happened the last time the news channel were relocated to the second studio for the morning.

They definitely have more than one CSO broomcupboard which can be used for summaries.

Did the 10.55 summary have a static background?

Putting my Charles Allen head on here for a moment, there's surely a cost saving that could be made here, what with 'ITV News' occupying half a dozen studios at ITN for a few minutes per day.

Nice to see some wide shots going into and out of breaks - much better than the generic stings

And they seem to have put a green board over the messy cables to the right of the desk.

So is it the regular 'second studio' [anyone know the proper name for it?] that we are seeing today, just used more creatively?

Or is it studio 1 with a desk plonked in the middle?

I think you've answered your own question in the Election thread!

Is studio 2 the old ITV1 news studio that's currently used for the briefings? Or is it the main ITV1 news studio now? I get easily confused.

Studio 2 is the home of the 'theatre of news'. Studio 1 is the full VR studio.

No, that's not quite what I'm asking!

I was working on the basis that the 'second studio' used on a daily basis by the News Channel is not Studio 1, but elsewhere (? next to the newsroom) in the building.

Apologies James. I understood that the 'second studio' is studio 1.

I am getting quite used to waking up to Lucy Alexander and Andrew Harvey - they make quite a good combination and a very watchable programme.
Live with Alastair Stewart has also been upto its usual standards this morning interviewing Andrew Gilligan and Kelvin Mackenzie concerning the renewal of the BBC charter until 2017! An interesting debate which made Gilligan appear a bit one dimensional and still pro-BBC.

They are still using the virtual studio and the only give away is the gradient on the floor and also rather than a reflection on the desk you can actually see through the desk to reveal the walkway and wall behind the desk! (lol)

I would like to see someone stand up in the middle of the studio and click their fingers so that the studio changes to something else - eg The Briefing or the courtroom of the Michael Jackson trial - I wonder if they could achieve that?

From Studio 6 (Channel 4's studio).

So has the virtual studio been used all day on the news channel? Was it just breakfast time that had 2 presenters? As the itvnc is not available in my region I was just wondering if it was still the same set of presenters doing the same shifts. I.e. 1-2 Nick & Leyla / 2-3 Leyla & Steve / 3-4 Mark & Nina / 4-530 Steve & Felicity etc...? Any new additions?

That's still the theoretical schedule - but in practice at least one presenter is always away.

Yesterday afternoon they were in the virtual studio right through to the Evening News at 6.30, with the following presenters:

1300 Nicholas Owen
1400 Steve Scott
1500 Mark Austin & Nina Hossain
1600 Steve Scott & Felicity Barr
1700 Steve Scott
1730 Felicity Barr
