And, I think it will be a good idea for the Angela Rippon and Alastair Stewart shows to be simulcasted for Channel 4, so people who don't have digital satellite or cable can see it.

Just because Channel 4 get their news from ITN does not mean they have any connection to ITV or indeed ITV News! Just consider the case, would Five have ever screened ITV News on their network purely because ITN produced it? No they wouldnt, infact they chose to show Sky News Sunrise ovet the ITVNC! ITV and Channel 4 are seperate busineses and there is no way in hell Ch4 would ever allow ITV to plaster their branding all over their network!

I've never got the lack of promotion for the news channel, especially on ITV1. I understand that they promote things during news programmes, but what about outside of them. Not everybody will have the chance to watch ITV News, they may not even watch it at all unless they really want to see something that interests them (most probably why Trevor pops up at 10:15pm).

If they knew that John Major was on the news channel today (unless it was a surprise visit, or something quickly set up), then why couldn't they have promoted it last night or had an advert in the breaks of GMTV instead of one for fat friends?

That crossed my mind too. I think ITV News should do promos featuring their Theatre of News and short films from the actual programmes themselves, like Live with Alistair Stewart, promoting what they actually do, instead of promoting untrue schedules.

On the other hand, people who would be interested in news and current affairs probably are watching ITV News bulletins on ITV1. In other words, it's targetted scheduling of promotions. It's probably also got something to do with money and budgets!

Last night on the Evening News, a clip of Eve Pollard talking about Maxine Carr
(probably best not to ask) was labelled as coming from the "ITV Newschannel". I've never seen them use "Newschannel" as one word before.

There's an awful lot of incestuous self-congratulatory crap going on at ITV News today. I saw the two short bulletins and part of the Lunchtime News, and all have covered the RTS Awards they won last night. Next on the ITV News Channel they're going to interview each other.

It warrants a mention in the Lunchtime News. It certainly should not have taken up time in the short morning bulletins, and journalists interviewing each other in this way is vomit inducing...

Nicholas Owen's interview of Alastair Stewart is actually quite interesting.

Im really surprised at that, i would have thought people on tv forum would find an interview about rolling news channels and the future of appointment to view bulletins interesting.
Well i thought it was really interesting.

Awww, I missed it. It seemed interesting to see the interviews. Was Julian Manyon really in the studio talking to Nicholas Owen?

Carrie Frais on the NC again! I don't mind Carrie, but she is on almost every week. How about different people like David Glencourse from Scottish TV, or Richard Bath and Lady Fiona Armstrong.

Its about time more regional presenters were used on the ITV NC. Lady Fiona and Courtnay McLeod are the best presenters at Border.
