The hour-long Lunchtime News with Mark Webster and Mary Nightingale. I chose Mark because he is generally good reading the news and it will be a change

Yes, County Durham does sound better, but I call her Kaite 'Durham Univeristy' because she's posh (just like the students of Durham Univeristy) and highly-educated (she went to Cambridge). Hence, I call her Katie 'Durham University'.

I've been called a lot of things, but 'posh' is a first... and an amusing first, at that.

I think ITV Wales's Lucy Owen would make a fantastic presenter on the new ITV Lunchtime News, with Nick Owen.

This would leave the way clear for Juliet Piper to then replace Lucy as the main female presenter on ITV Wales News. Very Happy

Yes, Jez, that sounds a fantastic idea! At least there is some life to Lucy and would interact with Nic much better than Nina could ever dream of. Not being too hard on Nina as she is much better fronting ITV News bulletins by herself - she just seems a bit wooden on the double anchored bulletins.

I would stick with the proposed - Nick Owen and Katie Derham on the Lunchtime News. Then a solo presented Evening News with Mary Nightingale; and the News at 10.30 with Mark Austin. And Bill Neely, James Mates, Nina Hossain and Andrea Catherwood as the secondary and weekend presenters. And the occasional appearance of Joyce Ohajah and Lauren Taylor too.

I realise the Evening News will probably remain co - presented, but I would prefer just one anchor doing it.

I didn't know I was that funny. What's wrong with that?

What I wrote, North East, is that Nick do the shifts when Mark Austin is off. He will probably have the same time off as Trevor if he inevitably does the late evening news.

If you think Mark Webster is a good newsreader you need your head examined.

I'm sure he's a nice bloke and everything, but he is a terrible newsreader.

Mark Webster is an awful news reader but a great reporter!
Whereas as I'm begginning to warm to Bill Neelly now - he has been good this week presenting some unfortunate bulletins but improving all the time!

The previous two posts has something in common with when Mark Austin became a full-time newsreader. Everybody complained about Austin, and look where he is now - a likely successor to the News At Ten Thirty.

No matter how bad Mark Austin was (or perhaps still is?) there is nobody as bad as Mark Webster! The man has no on screen persona or flair, he permanently looks like a rabbit caught in headlights, and has an inhability to even ad lib and welcome viewers to the programme - he just crashes straight into reading the story. Awful awful awful

People have mentioned Bill Neiley, but is it just me who finds his voice incredibly annoying?!
