Poor Oscar Puffin. What will go at 3 then? Will CiTV then start at 3?
probably whatever normally goes at 1pm will be at 1.30pm, then everything will be half an hour out of sync
What i meant was all the programmes will be pushed back an hour!

The afternoon local news is being dropped completely. Takes effect in March (hence longer Lunchtime News).

Indeed what will go at 3pm. I can't see what the afternoon regional news has to do with anything. I also can't see CITV starting at 3pm!
If you go back to the start of this thread people said the extended Lunchtime News was so they could axe the Morning News, again what's that got to do with it.
I'll believe it when the listings come out

I wonder how long this will last. Personally I prefer the current programme - it used to drag out when it was 30 minutes without regional news - and the local programmes struggle to fill their current slots with news.
It's completly against the trend of most programming now, so is a surprise - but an interesting surprise. Hopefully the extra 30 minutes won't be filled with lame consumer items but instead include items of interest. The Lunchtime News always carries some kind of interview which is cut short for the regional news, so this should improve things.
I wonder if ITV1 will ditch the morning news updates in return for this?

The point is that it is hard to believe that ITV would put out more than the bare minimum number of hours of news (national and regional) on ITV1 that they could get away with.
Presumably adding 7 mins of regional news to the Lunchtime News and losing c. 10 mins from the afternoon bulletins will keep them within the relevant quotas?
I think we can trust Rangdo.

That has been rumoured for years now, they said it was going to be pulled in 2001 when ITN had to cut back, or that it would be a repeat of News At Ten or something. Though I haven't watched the Morning News for years, so I don't know if they use last night's stories or new stories etc. But you're right what has it got to do with it.
I can only think that the extended Lunchtime News is a cheap way for ITV to churn out the News and a magazine style programme for one hour, as they stay with ITN for it and they would use the same presenters. I don't know how well the Lunchtime News does in the ratings, but I'd be certain that the ratings dip at 1.00pm.
Personally if it was up to me I would have the Lunchtime News back at 1.00pm.

erm, because an extra half hour of lunchtime news could easily be seen to be replacing the Morning News. Why would ITV (as said above) put out more than their required hours for news?
I wonder if Katie Derham will also stay on London Tonight? Some of the tabloid articles were suggesting that she would not.

.
It has a lot of pre-recorded as-lives from the correspondents on News at 10.30 from the night before - but are at least specifically for the morning news.
Also a lot of what are basically extended oovs - voiced often by the IRN journos on shift funnily enough.

Does the ITV Morning News actually count in any sort of quotas? It is never advertised and never refered to in any articles, its as if it's just there as a legacy half the time.
