Tony Martin apart, overall I thought today's programme was OK. It was fairly newsy and flowed a bit better than some of the earlier editions. And as Luke says, the return of the normal desk is a big improvement.

If anything it was the London Today bulletin that suffered from pointless padding, with an over-long studio interview with Cliff Richard.

I thought the chairs behind the desk were placed in the wrong position, as Katie and Nick seemed a little squashed.

No wonder in Katie's condition.

Why can't ITV News just add "EXCLUSIVE" under their News Channel dog when they feel they must, rather than a seperate graphic. It would look much better.

That Lunchtime News backdrop is bad. It doesnt work with video feeds, and looks out of place.

To be honest, I didn’t think it ran that smoothly, there were some cock-ups. But overall I do agree it was a good news spread today.

That backdrop is awful, it makes it look like CITV, not the News. I don't understand what it's meant to represent, it doesn't even fit in with the 'ITV Day' branding.

Even if they don't want to use the atrium backdrop for the news channel, I'd say at least use it for the main ITV1 bulletins.

I think ITV Lunchtime News should use a background more like this one rather than those awful floating blocks.

The blocks are just plain awful. The blue floating squares on the other bulletins are marginally better but it's a simple thing like this that ITV News should change on a regular basis!

The usual squares are better, as they match the studio more, and doesnt clash with the videos. The new Lunchtime News background is too bright, and looks really out of place, especially with the titles. If they wanted to join the daytime look, then they should have gone yellow/orange/red and blue. They should have stuck with norm.

I thought they would change the squares - and maybe make the background orange - but I guess if they change the logo on the Lunchtime News to the ITV Day colours they also have to do it to the regions.

The best background ITV News have is the wavy lines one - it's in a much darker blue and still has the ITV 4 squares on it.

Yeah. ITV have something about wavy lines, like xmas 2003, 2001 promo board etc. Nice though, but again it might be too contrast for the wall, as it contains alot of black.
