It's interesting what they'll do in the hour, some of it will of course be lighter Chris Choi type features, but I'm sure they'll do it well
No doubt there will be several ad breaks, consumer reports, and pointless reports trying to engage the viewers. However, I'm willing to be proved wrong.
It's interesting that the News Channel has made next to no mention of the new Lunchtime News.
I wonder if the new bulletin will be a good or bad thing for the NC?
I fear that a whole hour's simulcast may further let the News Channel down in terms of its ability to respond to breaking news in the middle of the day.
And will they really carry the full 13 minute London regional bulletin on the NC? Simulcasting a 5 minute bulletin twice a day (12.50ish and 10.50ish) is one thing, but 13 minutes is quite a duration - especially at a time of day when there's often a lot of news happening.
It will be interesting to see what happens at 1.30 on the NC. I imagine that Nick Owen will still do some News Channel presenting as they will be keen to maintain the whole thing about 'faces you know and trust', but Katie has only done about 5 mins (AFAIK) on the NC since the Feb 04 relaunch - is it in her contract (like Trevor's) that she doesn't have to appear on the NC?
Will Leyla join Nick at 1.30? Or will they get both the Lunchtime News presenters to continue till 2 on the News Channel? If so, it's strange that they haven't been mentioning it at all.
