What really annoys me about ITV regional news (and the beeb do this a lot too) is that they insist on having both presenters introduce an item, taking a paragraph each. If it's not that then they show both presenters even when the only one is talking.
It's very distracting as the one who's not talking has to sit there like a lemon. What's wrong with a traditional shot of a single presenter? Indeed why have 2 presenters at all?

It all depends on the programme I guess - I can't imagine North West Tonight or Wales Today being co-host, while similarly Lucy and Jonathan have built up a good on screen rappor on ITV Wales.
The most interesting example though is Granada Tonight - don't think they do this now, but a couple of years ago often if one presenter was off, the other presenter hosted alone - and considering the cringeworthy lack of chemistry between Lucy and Tony, there was an instant improvement!

Because they will end up like BBC Look North Hull otherwise

I have a question and that question is that why does ITV Regional news programmes at 6:00pm on weekdays have to have two presenters? Is their really any need for a regional news magazine programme? Won't it cost more, and with some regions having seperate editions.

I quite like Wales Today - it strikes a nice balance. It maintains an element of banter with the Sports and Weather presenters.
I have to agree with some of the comments made about two presenters though. I hate seeing my regional news - Midlands Today - adopt the one paragraph each format. It's so inane. I much prefer, if there are two presenters, for them to each take a story without the often overlapping or delayed injection of the other.

I believe my local BBC news programme Wales Today has one presenter? Not that I ever watch it. Its Wales Tonight all the way for me!

if theres two presenters it creates a better flow. More interesting for the viewer as well.
