I know this has already been mentioned before, but it was a while ago.

Tyne Tees now have the new itv style regional news look, which I think looks very good, from tomorrow itv West News will have the same look, which region will be next.?.

I have heard rumours about Wales, but Westcountry needs a fresh-look too.

That leaves us with the 2 Anglia programmes, Border (I know they had a new set last year) and STV and Grampian TV.

What do you think.?.

I reckon Anglia too...it could do with it so will probably look so much better. Will their presenters stay the same do you think?

Yep, as said a few weeks back, both Anglia News East and West will get the 'ITV makeover' around September time when they move back to Anglia House. West will lose that fake backdrop and be blessed with a real set, at last!

What about UTV, or, Channel - does there set county as Generic ITV?

what on earth is the point of having Generic ITV local news? Its very rare you see any region other than your own, why waste money it?

At least it means most ITV regions have ended up with a better set than they used to have.
The ITV generic set isn't perfect but it's far better than what used to go before in most regions.
It's also adaptable - look at how Granada used it for the Liverpool homecoming.

Is the idea of all regions getting the same set part of a long term plan to cut back regional news further still?

What is to stop the Tyne Tees late news or the weekend news programmes from being recorded at Yorkshire twenty minutes before broadcast by the duty YTV news reader who will then go on to present the Calendar news live. This will allow ITV to save more money on Presenters and Technical staff at off peak times.

I understand current rules will not allow this but it seems whenever ITV want a rule changing Ofcom obliges and in the long term we could end up with just a few newsrooms at offpeak times churning out all the bulletins.

The fact that, ultimately, they'll all be recorded twenty, thirty or forty minutes before broadcast at Gray's Inn Road in London!
