I don't understand these plans and can't visualise them very well.
But I am certain of one thing:
Culverhouse Cross studios, from both the outside and inside, are a classsic example of 1980s architecture and design and should UNDOUBTEDLY be preserved as a listed building.
I believe it would be a crime if it was interfered with at all, and we will regret doing so in years to come. Same as the Granada logos on the Manchester studios.
If you haven't seen the inside of Culverhouse Cross you really should refrain from reacting negatively to this comment.
According to the proposal document the studios 'are not fit for purpose', As excuses go I suppose it's more original than 'full of asbestos'.
Its another classic money grabbing exercise dressed up as progress. Culverhouse cross is a well constructed production centre. Like everything else if you don't maintain it it falls into disrepair. It would be easier to do a bit of maintainance rather than build another news shed.
The only thing 'not fit for purpose' at ITV would appear to be its commitment to decent programme making and the regional facilites needed to do this.
Yeah, ITV Wales has just got itself a shiny new newsroom, which may as well be built-for-purpose. Why they want to move it all again I don't know. They've been doing loads of renovations in the past year.

Considering the fact that Culverhouse Cross was built in the 1980's, I think this is a pile of bull. If it was built in the 1950's/60's I could understand.
I thought the Studios were doing okay, hence why ITV bought them back fully from UNM a couple of years ago. But at the end of the day it's all about the bloody money.
