Anyone else seen Lookaround lately? Seems a heck of a lot more livelier than it's ever been. Bringing Jonathan Willoughby in as one of the main presenters seems to have given Fiona Armstrong a new lease of life. Everything seems a bit snappier. And the ITV Border Bus Lives with Jonathan, Fiona and Kerrie Gosney have been great. Has there been a change of management at the station?

I don't know sarah it seemed at a bit of a higher point in terms of quality for me last year when they had a better array of reporters on there. However these ambitious girls all moved off to the rarified heights of tv news such as Sky News , ITV Yorkshire's Calendar and Russia Today <?>

Now the presentation in the studio is better but the reporters out in the field are a bit dull or boring or just tedious. I find it hard to watch now.

It would be good to see Gilly Fraser back in the studio for a change from reporting. Lookaround is about as good as it has ever been.

so Border still broadcasts from its own facilities, that means that Border is one of the few regions who probably have more then just one news studio like most of the others.

Surprised to see Helen Pearson has moved to ITV Border's Lookaround this month.
Perhaps this is a good move for her if she 's going to be a regular presenter for them but Border ? It seems an odd place to move to after a long time at Westcountry News.

AFAIK Border has always only had the one news studio, for Lookaround.

The point, I think, being made was that Border - like most pre-1992 franchises - had more than one studio in their main production centre. They usually had at least one larger production studio alongside a modest local news studio.

Most ITV PLC regional operations - with the exception of LWT, Yorkshire and Granada - have relocated their operations to sites with only news studios - and haven't retained general production studios.

Border are now one of the few ITV PLC operations running on their original pre-1990s sites, and thus physically have more than a local news studio, though apparently it is no longer in use (and may no longer be functional?) Anglia are similar I believe - as both of their original studio centres in Norwich had more than local news facilities, and even though one has now been sold, the other remains.

And from that studio came the classic Derek Batey version of Mr & Mrs, as well as his chatshow, Look Who's Talking. Both of which were beamed into the nation's sitting rooms in Border's heyday.

You're correct, it's no longer in use or functional; I believe that it's used as a storeroom now.

I have been to Border's studios and there are, as far as I know, two news studios. The Lookaround studio, and another one which is half the size. It was used for Border News until it started using the main set. It has a CSO set-up. Then of course there is also the camera in the newsroom, which I suppose could be considered a small news set?
