Yes! That's exactly what I thought - in fact when I turned on during the opening headlines I thought for a moment that it was Anna.

I guess Julia will be the only one who has presented the "Evening News" before, quite often filling in for Trevor McDonald when it was a single-anchored programme.


Has Julia presented with Mark before though. I know Mark Austin used to fill in for Dermot Murnaghan on the Nightly News, so it's possible he stood in for John Suchet on the Lunchtime News at some point!

Yes - she said during her chat with Felicity Barr on the News Channel that she had co-presented with him when Mark made his newsreading debut.

Can't have been that often. I remember Dermot Murnaghan used to be the main replacement for Trevor back then, and it wasn't that long after the 1999 relaunch before Kirsty Young came along

Didn't Julia stay with ITN, even after the arrival of Kirsty Young, wasn't she one of the faces to launch the ITN News Channel ?

IndeedJulia was the very first presenter on the ITN NC, 5 years ago last month.

She also stayed with ITN, continuing to present the afternoon show on LBC (then ITN-run), for a little while after she gave up TV news.
