I think this is great. Good on Auntie for letting her present ITV News - but I noticed that Anna will be presenting on a Friday - normally her day off!
Will be good to see Selina Scott presenting the news again, as well.

As people have said, it's very good of the Beeb to allow Anna to do it. After Freesat, they must be all chummy chummy
It would be nice for the show to have a proper ident introduction that week, with the anno giving some sort of reference to what's going on as opposed to simply launching into it from regional news.

I believe 'theatre for news' is the favoured term these days. I'm not sure if that's an improvement or not?

Excuse me, it's not a 'daft studio', it's the 'Theatre of News', gawd help us. And just how nauseatingly pretentious and self-congratulatory is that!

I remember reading a few years ago (1999) that Alastair Burnet and a couple of other people 'linked with ITN' (incl. Sandy Gall?) were strongly against the change of name from ITN to ITV News on screen and started some form of petition or something, so maybe that's why they won't be appearing.
But it will be good to see Julia Sommerville again, not to mention Anna Ford!

I agree about Julia Somerville. I never understood why they got rid of her from the ITV Evening news in the first place.

I think the most impressive will be Julia Somerville, who to be fair hasn't been away for that long. She's always struck me as being an excellent presenter, would be nice to see her maybe offered something more permanent as a result of this, maybe a slot on the News Channel or something similar to Angela Rippon's?

This sounds really good, I'll be watching, probably even funnier when you see the old presenters trying to get used to the Theatre of News. Good to see Martyn Lewis back too, he was superb at the BBC, shame they had to get rid of him and since disappeared.
Another interesting one IMO will be Selina Scott, especially that she hasn't been on TV for a good 10 years or so now, after programmes such as the Donald Trump thing that eventually lead to the downfall of her career.
Though it's a good idea for these presenters to be on the Evening News, I would have thought having them host a special slot on the News Channel or doing a special one-off bulletin, would be more suitable.
And again agreeing with other posters, fair play to the BBC to let Anna Ford go back to ITV to do a one-off.

Bloody Kirsty Young! Wouldn't have been so bad if she'd stuck around, but she did the Lunchtime News for a year, got pregnant, came back and quit to go to five - but was excellent with the rolling coverage of September 11th. One of the things that stands out from ITV's coverage that day is Kirsty talking to her husband who was in New York at the time!
Perhaps if Julia does a good job she'll be welcomed back into the fold Alistair Stewart style - especially as ITV are currently running short on female newsreaders as they all seem to be getting pregnant!
