Five News from ITN

Going by Page 36 of this thread, Simon Vigar presented in January

ITV News head of output and assistant editor Cristina Nicolotti Squires is replacing Geoff Hill at 5 News.

Simon Pusey used to present a bit, possibly one bulletin at 5pm, definitely weekends. Simon has actually left 5 News back in May, for CCTV.

The stools made a return in tonights NewsTalk Live to accommodate a certain guest.

That first image looks very odd!

That virtual set looks so virtual - it's awful. Really does look like something you'd expect from a Richard Desmond news service - cheap and tacky.

The NewsTalk VR backdrop really shows why the desk is required,

For some reason, shortly after the start of NewsTalk Live, they slightly ruined the studio. The effect on the two side walls was replaced with a flat gradient, and they added some weird 'panels' to the left wall.

Yes, at one point the dogs underbelly totally disappeared, turning him purple!

VR sets can be justified sometimes, but just to avoid building a permanent news set isn't one of them.

ITV News have managed to somehow get away with it for years by at least making the set look believable.

C5 have gone down the other route: having live action news presenters inside a 'cartoon environment'. I half expect Roger Rabbit to appear as their crime correspondent.

I don't mind the 5 news 'set'. It does look fake tbf, but at least they're not trying to pretend it's not.
The newstalk live vr set looks awful, the normal 5 news vr one is fine, well at least it was before the desk was put in.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but the budget for 5 news isn't the largest? so that's probrably why there is no 'real' set.

The second image looks like there's a UV light underneath the dog.
