so is the new set going to be next to the newsroom then as I thought or did I get this wrong?

+ A slight break down at the end of the weather... Sian was put back to the beginning then black, luckily Gabby's promo began.

Personally I think the new look is generally really good! But the evening updates tonight are been billed as '5 News at 19.58' & '5 News at 20.58' a bit silly really '5 News Headlines' would be fine!!

If today's aim was for Joe Public to see the usual faces and no change to the overall format of the programme, they succeeded.

There's only two or three issues I have which aren't major, the music is a bit limp, the outline of the presenters against the CSO is too obvious and the weather graphics need slight tweaks. There was one frame of the midday forecast for tomorrow where the text blended into the map and the font and temperature signs need increasing ever so slightly.

Otherwise a great job today.

The CSO is temporary according to a lot of people, so need for too much worry, there is a proper set to come soon, just not ready.

I heard the autumn which is a long time away.

I'd agree that today's relaunch has been a success and contrary to what some media sites were suggesting at the time, in terms of content and depth there was no noticeable difference to what Sky were offering at all.

Me thinks the extent of the budget cut was greatly exaggerated in the media.

I like it. The logo looks better rather than layered over the '5'.
The set design is a lot better than the final sky incarnation that was just the side of the OK!TV set, despite it moving off to Elstree for a few months & ending before Christmas.
They have obviously taken the camera angles & ideas from the last set though. The (what will be) barcos work a lot better not only to add story images & live ob's, but also to enhance the set with a slight animation.
Maybe on move to N&S they will display the newsroom when not showing a story image/OB.

The problem I have with the set is the studio guest as seen tonight. It's very odd to have them stood up along with the presenter. It would be nice to see some sort of seating for these moments, but with the laptop stand I'm guessing that the only thing that would look right would be high stools.

The titles are an improvement for me, I like Ashley did not like the bold red & dark blue look.
The music will hopefully grow on me. The final sky look had great music that was serious but also light, if that makes sense.

I am surprised at the amount of staff who TUPE'd across to ITN from sky, I know some are contracted to N&S, but surely not all of the reporters.

Was the anorexia report in the 5:00, or are they making the 6:30 more feature based with more news at 5:00?

It will be interesting to see how it develops.

Yes, it was in the 5.00 bulletin.

The news story that showed the newsroom and the guest opposite Emma is the CSO set, was the 6.30 only news story
