A special programme on 27th September presented by Trevor McDonald look backs at the biggest news stories of the past 50 years of news on ITV. You can vote for your favourite at: www.itn-theshot.com

I wonder why it's being run by ITN and not ITV? Probably because it's their 50th anniversary too?

Because it's ITN who have always provided the news for ITV...

Presumably this will be an ITN Factual production too?

I noticed the article from the "daily digest" this morning!

9/9 conspiracy theory
As part of its 50th birthday celebrations, ITV is asking viewers to choose the most momentous news images of the last half-century. Great. Just what viewers want - another list show. Sir Trevor MacDonald will host the results programme next month, but in the meantime viewers can vote for the most significant clip on ITN's "The Shot That Shook the World" website, and very impressive it is too. Until we get to this bit. "Twin Towers - on 9 September 2001 two hijacked airliners were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Centre." Now we know it's a tough one to remember, fellas, but Monkey was convinced that happened on September 11. Or is there a conspiracy theory we don't know about? At least they got the number of towers right.

Thankfully, they have corrected the mistake now.

A bit silly to call the items 'Shots':

'President J F Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald on 22 November 1963 in Dallas - Vote for This Shot'

That was a great shot..... right through the head and everything!

The title of this thread should be "The Shot that Shook the World", shouldn't it?

Just noticed that UTV have started showing the promo for this. Of course in true UTV style they've plastered their own web address where I presume the ITV address was! It looks awful!

I'm actually surprised they haven't managed to squeeze a UTV logo in somewhere as well!

When you then get to u.tv there is a direct link to the ITV.com site;
