As briefly mentioned in the ITN News re-brand thread, the news has used a lot of iconic and distinctive themes that are still remembered years after they were decommissioned. The question is, what happens to them once they are no longer used? Are the master tapes still kept in some ITN archive? Or are they literally disposed of once they're done with? I obviously hope the former.
Some themes are at KPM, but none were the cut used on Sir Alistair's tribute, that seemed to be the start of the opening and then the end of the closing.
Library is asterisked, but it is where nearly all ITV themes are

That is not were most of ITV themes are, some of the itv themes are there but just a few including
itn news from 1999 onwards. Strike it lucky. ( thoso two both come from different library)
Most of ITV themes are specially composed, including many of the older ITN theme,. Alas ITN do not archive many of the older themes.
I know it's not ITN as such but would anyone class the current ITV regional news theme as iconic. It's been around for what nearly 10 years? It's nowhere near as historic as News At Ten and some may argue that it is stale. For me it is iconic in the sense that if you heard it from the room next door you would know that ITV local news is on air. Just wanted to know what other people thought?
It will be strange to hear the regional news with a different theme, I will admit, after hearing that same five-note jingle for the past 8 or so years.
