Interesting here how the poll says one thing and the comments say another.

ITV News Channel is pointless, I'd rather see NaT return than a news channel.

(btw congrats Brekkie on reaching 10,000 posts)

A news channel is always going to be a marginal, if not loss-making operation.

Looking at the major news channels out there, they are all essentially corporate willy-waving, promoting the prestige of their parent organisations.

The BBC can afford to pump vast sums into N24 because of the "unique way it is funded". Sky always have seen Sky News as an effort to drag their image out of the gutter. Similarly, CNN, Fox and CNBC are all essentially barker channels for their parent companies.

ITV News Channel could be the same, but would require a LOT of effectively wasted money. Naming it "ITN News Channel" defeats the willy-waving aspect of things for ITV, and ITN themselves can't afford to pump millions into such a venture, and there is very little point in doing so anyway.

It's dead. Let it rest.

not true - news channels in the US make millions for their companies, particularly CNBC.
