ITN is to launch a new news channel, which will be shown on your mobile phone. It sounds like that the new service will be similar to the old ITN News Channel, offering headlines every 15 minutes.

The question is will the new channel have presenters and could we see a return of the old News Channel presenters, presenting these bulletins.

Mobile news: Vodafone Live! 3G customers will be able to watch news updates, plus financial, sports and showbiz coverage

ITN is launching a 24-hour news channel that will be streamed via Vodafone 3G mobile phones - four months after the closure of its ITV News Channel digital TV service.
The news service and made-for-mobile ITN Weather Channel, which is produced in conjunction with the Met Office, will be available to Vodafone Live! 3G customers.

ITN's streamed 24-hour news service will be in addition to the news bulletins it already supplies to Vodafone mobiles.

The service will offer UK and international news updates every 15 minutes, plus financial, sports and showbiz coverage. ITN Multimedia is providing the new service for Vodafone.

ITN's ITV News Channel closed in late December, after the service lost distribution on Freeview and ITV decided it was no longer financially viable.

ITV has just handed its broadcast licence for the ITV News Channel back to communications regulator Ofcom.

I think it is very doubtful I think it may be like Euronews with no invision presenter but all voice over by the reporters of each individual report

That channel sucks, it's so impersonal. Who actually does the reports, freelance journalists or do they have their own reporters?

I suppose the impersonal nature is unavoidable given that it's a multi-lingual channel... unless you don't mind bad dubbing.

I'd guess it's whats available at www.greengrass.tv - where I've seen Chris Rogers, Phil Gayle, Owen Thomas and others.

Hmm, it was all looking ok until I noticed "GOSS !" in that menu. I can live with Showbiz or perhaps even Gossip, but just what were they thinking with Goss ? It's not even a word.

All in 15 minutes? Every 15 minutes?

Where have I heard something similar before?

WOW WOW WOW! Shocked Now that's what I call quality! Wink

At least the famous logo is hanging on in there, that's a relief! Cool Has anyone any idea, why this channel is not promoted nationwide! It's looks fantastic I must say. I'm impressed. Very Happy

I suppose if the worst comes to worst and ITV eliminates ITN from the C3 News contract (they had better not!), then at least ITN will have this to fall back on, as well as the superior C4N! Personally, they better off with this on greengrass and C4N, as it's reflects to the true quality pf the orig ITN News back in the gold old days eh? Smile

How long has this been going on for by the way?

Keep up the good work ITN!

And you're basing that on 6 images on this forum ?

Huh ? I expect the service uses most of the reports (and presenters by the looks of it) from their ITV news contract, in the same way the old ITN News Channel used to.

And as I'm guessing you've never seen this in action, the whole basis of your argument seems to be based around the fact that the ITN logo = quality, ITV = evil. That isn't necessarily the case, there's a lot of romanticism on this forum about the old 'ITN' but I expect this service is more akin to ITV News than anything else.

What I find more interesting is that Phil Gayle is sitting in front (of a CSO?) of the IRN newsroom. Perhaps because it's the most lively part of the ITN building these days. Or least you're guarenteed people doing something like interviews, leaving their terminals etc.

What's to stop them sticking this on Sky and other platforms? How much cost would be involved in that?
