Looking at the wideshot at 13:00 in that clip, I think this is actually the desk that the Weekend News and overnight bulletins came from during 1991-1992 before the 1992 makeover for the EEN. That means it's definitely Studio 3 and was, if I recall, situated on the first floor of GIR. The weekend newsreader sat where John Suchet is sitting - and I think the sports newsreader used to sit where the studio guest is - you can see a microphone on the desk there so I think this is where the sports presenter sat under normal circumstances. This was during the last years of the 1987-92 Weekend News before it adopted the EEN presentation.

Interesting to see ITN taking CNN directly for a while, presumably they had a good relationship with them. I can remember ITN reports appearing on CNNi in the early 2000s.

That Diana special, possibly an early attempt at motion tracking as the OTS graphic increases in size as the camera zooms in?

That C4 Daily clip almost looks like a parody, with the presenters turning towards the camera and the anchor struggling with the desk phone.

Thanks fox1!

That C4 Daily clip is quite amusing - I love how the presenter removes her earring before picking up the phone to speak to the reporter in Johannesburg. So antiquated by today's standards!
Critique, Steve in Pudsey and Custard56 gave kudos

Channel 4 Daily was the best morning programme at the time, but because it was a latecomer in the breakfast game, it had a lot of catching up to do. It didn't help that it changed sets and studios 3 times during its short life. That original set for the World News, was beautifully simple, and incredibly effective. Also, having the major World News bulletins on the half hour, at 6.30, 7.30 and 8.30, was a great idea. Being anchored from 3 locations, with the other 2 anchors basically being pre-recorded before hand was kind of disappointing, although I did love the Tokyo anchor set.

Does anyone have any memories of the ITN World News programme at all?

I know it started life as the ITN Super Channel News in 1987 and was presented from a Portakabin on the roof of the old ITN House on Wells Street - this was due to overcrowding in the building at the time. It shortly thereafter became known simply as the ITN World News and at this time used a fantastic theme tune. I know it had a major rebrand in around 1994 - but I'm particularly interested in the last incarnation as "World News for Public Television".

There is absolutely no footage of any sort of this version anywhere online - I think this may be due to the fact it ceased to air as part of the Morning News and so wasn't available in the UK. But, do any of our international members remember anything about this? What was the presentation like? Which studio did it come from at ITN? All I know about it is that Daljit Dhaliwal was the main presenter and it ended in about 2001 or 2002. If anyone has anything to add to this, I'd love to hear it!

I do know that the ITN World News for Public Television launched on November 2nd 1998, and would air at 5.30pm on WNET 13 in New York. I believe it used the same theme as the 1994 revamp. It used the same studio that the Lunchtime and Early Evening News used.

She also appears to have a pair of satellite dishes attached to her earlobes.

This forum would have loved the Channel 4 Daily, considering there seemed to be more presentation than actual content with all the sets and stings, intros, graphics etc, plus lots of different presenters. Plus it was all done to a rigid timetable which would have lead itself to mock schedules.

Regarding ITN World News, it's notable how ITN took their usual ITV theme and kind of americanised it with more bells and whistles and an American graphic style.

It makes "The Day Today's" pres elements look positively restrained by comparison!

Presumably the dots under the clock on the C4 Daily are 15 second intervals of the minute. Don't recall seeing them before.
