Well, Sky are now quoted as saying 'Sharon may not recover'. He is reported to be in theatre now on life support, undergoing surgery for a Cerebral Haemorrhage.

Sky News have kept with this story since the top of the hour, would they try to wheel in some top guns for the overnight??

Impossible really - I assume the SNT team are on-air at the moment and if there are any further developments within the next hour or so I guess their coerage may be extended.

I think they might not do so until things really hit the fan. It is breaking news, but it is also something that doesn't affect the world.

Er...yes it does - the death of a senior figure in an unstable Middle East?

The only thing is, the "big guns" as you say would not be brought in because it is not something that people would stay the night up for.

Well, it is obviously something that the newsrooms are taking seriously. Looks like Sky News have opted for continuous rolling coverage now of this, with no breaks since just before 10pm, and no Sportsline either.

BBC News 24 have also done the same thing, continued with coverage instead of their business report.

Perhaps I didn't say it clearly. What I mean is for now, the news is not of significant importance and when he dies, the big guns will be brought in.

Oh god! After a year full of famous deaths in 2005, we will probably start 2006 with the death of another famous person.

Apparently, a stroke causes so much damage, you are better off dying from it rather than surviving.

Where did you get this news?

I'm a doctor.

Respects to Sharon obviously but on another note, anyone seen the advert for Isreal? Shocked

"Come to Isreal."

What's that trying to say?

Given his age, he is quite healthy (of course, from the looks of it)

Quite healthy!! Shocked He's morbidly obese - practically spherical - has recently suffered a stroke, and was scheduled to have surgery tomorrow to repair a hole in his heart!

Any takers for an 11pm Joint N24/World report?

I notice the media are all using phrases like was used before it was announced that Robin Cook had died... "fading from public life" etc.
