Live at five with Jeremy
Huge story brewing in Gaza. Rockets and blasts coming from Gaza. John Ray live in Gaza tonight for ITV. David Bowden there for Sky. Israel conflicts usually produce the best foreign reporting. I remember Mark Austin and Julian Manyon coming from there a couple of years ago. Martin Stanford and Jeremy Thompson also produced astounding coverage in a different conflict in 2005. Richard Crowley there for RTÉ. If things escalate as it looks like happening this could be catastrophic for the region.

The baby son of a BBC Arabic picture editor was killed in the attack yesterday.

Ben Brown anchoring from the border yesterday for BBC World and, one imagines, also for BBC News UK. Wyre Davis, Yolande Knell and John Donnison are the correspondents on the ground.

Kamahl Santamaria was rolling from Doha yesterday for AJE. Ironically, on the 6th Anniversary of AJE, they were covering the same story as they did on launch day six years ago.

Zeinab Badawi's programme last night had some excellent interviews with Ministers and Officials from both sides on the ground. Zeinab is particularly good at this type of thing. Earlier in the day, Peter Dobbie hosted various studio guests in N8 for fairly lively interviews on the developments.

One also imagines that Lyse Doucet is on her way to the region.

On CNNI, Rosemary Church is currently on duty and has interrupted normal programming with Breaking News of continued shelling in Gaza.

However, Twitter appears to the the real *star anchor* this time around. Possibly dangerously so.

Yeah, Ben Brown was anchoring BBC News output from there on the BBC News Channel yesterday, which was fun, because we had two anchors in the studio most of the time, plus Matthew Amroliwala in Manchester for the Police Elections and Ben Brown on the Gaza Border. Ben's still anchoring some BBC News output today, I imagine from the same location.

Ben Brown is anchoring from Tel Aviv today. I believe the News Channel is now simulcasting with World News again, seeing as Ben didn't give a time check at the TOTH just gone, and the titles faded out a second or two earlier than usual.

Lyse Doucet in Gaza but haven't seen or heard her yet. Katya Adler now onscreen from Jerusalem.

AJE, as anticipated, appears to have had the most in depth coverage so far.

She's held the title since June at least...I remember watching World News Today on BBC4 and she was astoned as such when they threw over to her reporting from somewhere out in the field.
