Interesting to see that the IoM are starting switchover in June by removing BBC Two from Analogue. Although they'll still get the Tyne Tees & Border News programme for now, as Granada won't be on until later this year.

That's the way it's being done everywhere

I meant it in the way that the IoM are starting the switchover before the North West.
But it's currently part of Border and so has to switch alongside Caldbeck, the dates were set long before the decision was made

It is intriguing, but not surprising, that the Isle of Man is "getting what it wants" regarding local ITV services. People in the South of Scotland were asked by OFCOM what they would prefer, if Border TV were to disappear. The overwhelming majority said they wanted to go in with STV. OFCOM's attitude...maybe in 2013 because that isn't what ITV are proposing. There are precedents for changing transmitter allocations "mid-franchise"...Belmont was taken from Anglia and given to Yorkshire in 1974, despite much local opposition. Anyway, following digital switchover Caldbeck will transmit two ITV's...Border England and Border Scotland, the latter currently only available on analogue. So, the Border Scotland allocation could be handed over to STV with viewers still having the choice of ITV "England" if they are served directly from Caldbeck. The other point is this...the relays on the Isle of Man will be switched to Granada towards the end of the year. But quite a few parts of the island are beyond the reach of the relays and are served directly from Caldbeck, with signals from Winter Hill poor or non-existant. They will, in effect, be left without a local news service, unless they instal a dish.

I think that other areas on the "fringe" on regions should get the choice to switch regions too. For example Weymouth is now smack in the middle of the new huge Westcountry region, (stretching from the Isles of Scilly to Gloucestershire) & the new enormous Meridian region, (which stretches from Kent/southern Essex & up to Oxfordshire/Bucks)...
On the local relay transmitters we get south west varients, but now that Westcountry is going (& the newsroom in Weymouth is closing) it would make more sense to have Meridian (as they have a newsroom in Bournemouth & the local 15 bulletin will cover our area)... I can't see that we will get much of a mention on the new service from Bristol...

Indeed. The situation will mirror what's been happening with the BBC.
Many places, especially in the north of the island, watch BBC North East and Cumbria directly from Caldbeck.
Yet news is supposed to come from BBC North West.
If there's a serious news story in Ramsey, where most viewers are tuned to Caldbeck, they won't see anything on their tellies on either regional BBC or regional ITV news.
