Apparently, "staycation" originates from North America (either the US or Canada, according to the all-knowing Wikipedia), hence the use of "vacation" rather than "holiday" in the portmanteau.

An American import?! Even worse, enough to make you 'naseous' (that's post-modern anti-Amercianism by the way Wink)

As for the Daily Mail, have endless hours of fun with this...

So you actually agree that the release of this sub human, was the right decission, and it's the population of a country which votes ministers into power, at least that's how it works down here.
Biggs did not kill 270 defencless men, women and children................so dont try to justify your country's actions using this comparison, shame on you.

I neither said I agree nor disagree, and I certainly won't be drawn into your jingoistic hysteria.

And Harry - that's not how it works down there, up here or anywhere else. I'm not responsible for the appointment of a Minister, or the decisions he comes to - any more than you, as a voter, are able to anticipate things that happen after an election with your party of choice.

You know, its never too late to improve your education situation,

And Harry, if you knew anything about the Lockerbie bomber trial, you would realise that the conviction was far from the safest.

Your right there, I would start ASAP if I were you.
Never mind I bet Osama Binladen has your country ear marked as a safe haven, if he needs one................

Please yourself, Harry. If you want to see things that way then go right ahead.

You can understand why he thinks you're in charge, though, Gavin. He keeps spelling it 'Scottland'.

Does no one care about my News 24 vortex of terror?

....No one.... Crying or Very sad

Vortex of terror ? Sounds like something Jim Clancy would invent for a special report.

'Suck it up' is an americanism I've heard this a lot year and I hate it . I don't even know what it means. Confused

I dread to think... errr... summat do with vacuuming? http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z77/demaine_d/Emoticon/tumbleweed.gif

"Fail" appears to be another Americanism that's spreading fast here, exclaimed whenever somebody makes a (minor) mistake. "Gotten" is taking hold too... although we did originally have it in British English, but a disappeared a couple centuries ago, whilst the USA retained it (not the case with "forgotten" though!)

However "naseous" is inexcusable... a nauseated person is no more nauseous, than poisoned person is poisonous. Although when I heard on Britain's Got Talent , Piers Morgan saying he felt "naseous", I think he did have a point. Laughing

Now the news where you are.

I'm in Wales. News from Llandudno is not where I am. It's where they are.

Why do so few people say sixth, and say "sickth" instead? It's infuriating for me.
