9.40pm The Tommy Tiernan Show (where Tommy interviews guests who he is not told will be appearing that night on the show, he only finds out when the announcer introduces each guest)

Wow. Somebody thought the short-lived and never recommissioned Richard Whiteley Unbriefed was a format worth "borrowing"?

Yes and it’s been a big success for RTÉ. It’s on it’s third or fourth series now. Even the President of Ireland has been one of the guests on it.
Go figure!

Yeah it's a fantastic show... and the Michael D Higgins episode was a masterstroke of scheduling by RTE. They aired it straight after the massively anticipated General Election Exit Poll result on a Saturday night a few weeks ago. Must have had bumper ratings for that.

A shame RTE do not put the same effort into the rest of their schedules, with their morning offerings truly appalling - they must know Irish viewers probably watch British channels during the day and do not bother with anything home produced until 1pm.

Monday 2nd March 2020 is an example:

RTE One

6.00am - Euronews simulcast
7.05am - Teleshopping
8.10am - A repeat of Friday's afternoon magazine show Today with Maura and Daithi
10.05am - The Ellen DeGeneres Show
11.00am - Dr Phil
11.55am - Shortland Street
12.25pm - Doctors (BBC One soap, one year behind UK transmission)
1.00pm - RTE One O'Clock News

So the only home produced new programme in the daytime slot until 1pm is the news
