Why can't RTE always be like this. The set is flawless, and so is the production. Were stuck with a sh*** set.

It looked pretty gloomy IMO during the daytime. It would be like broadcasting the One News from the Prime Time studio - it just didn't work.

Well done RTÉ News and Current Affairs!

Great and fast graphics.
Live links with all-over-the-place.
Fantastic studio and sets.
The best guests.

This would give the BBC a run for it's money and Sky News could never be as stylish and un-tabloid.

The whole thing is much better than I had expected. I think the graphics are the best thing about it - very very slick and well thought out. Well done to RTÉ for this. Not entirely flawless but a pleasant surprise. Those graphics are just fantastic!!!

Yes well done RTE. I really like the clock, tickers and animation. Perhaps the new breakfast show they are planning for later this year can learn a thing or two from it!

I've been watching or listening to election coverage so long I'm getting withdrawal symptoms! Newstalk were the last to finish at 6pm, while RTÉ gave up at 3pm. Incredibly, some of the counts have yet to have final declarations.

The graphics were rather good. Thought the title sequence a bit showbizzy for election titles...

RTÉ's TV coverage finished earlier than planned at 2.30pm. Don't think they could have continued much longer than 3pm anyhow, irrespective of the status of the remaining counts, as the studio would've been required for rehearsals for Tubridy Tonight.

The coverage was first class I must say.

EDIT: well, it's 9.50pm and given that Denise Van Outen is currently appearing on RTÉ One and BBC One, it's clear that Tubridy Tonight was recorded earlier in the week.

I thought RTE's election coverage was very good and professional.

But I did not know that RTE are planning a new breakfast show for later this year. Can anyone tell me more about this because this is the first I have heard of it??

It doesn't have a whole lot on the new breakfast show, but you should find this page useful for finding out about RTÉ's plans for the next few years.

On page 12, you'll note that RTÉ plan on launching their breakfast service sometime in the third quarter of this year.
