I wanted to begin a thread specifically for TV Weather forecasts from Irish public service broadcasters including RTÉ, TV3 Group (Virgin Media Television) & TG4. This would be the main thread for discussing weather forecasts after their news bulletins. Discussing launches of new weather graphics from broadcasters should also be discussed here if they were launching new graphics for their TV channels.

The first thing that I wanted to talk about when beginning this thread is RTÉ Weather. They have refreshed their graphics again for their Weather forecasts. Did anyone see the new graphics after the RTÉ News bulletins today. What is your opinion after seeing them on RTÉ for the first time?

My first impressions was that I liked the new Weather Warning Graphics on the charts as they looked really nice & striking on the screen. There is a new really small RTÉ Weather logo with a rain cloud beside it which replaces the RTÉ logo in the top left hand corner of the screen. They also have new graphics to simulate rain, sunshine, clouds, fog & thunderstorms for the day to day forecasts.

You can replay 2 videos of the forecasts with the new weather graphics on the RTÉ Weather website.

I only noticed the new RTÉ weather logo after the Six One this evening. Otherwise in all honesty, it still looked tired and dated as it did on Wednesday and still in SD!

The weather forecast after the Six-One news was replaced with a voiceover & 5 day summary chart from Siobhan Ryan.

It was a bit odd because the Irish Sign Language forecast before the news was broadcast earlier without a hitch.

Did Nuala Carey do a European Weather forecast before The Angelus?

I did see a small improvement in Joanna Donnelly's forecast which displayed the temperatures in dark blue instead of white which makes it look more legible on the screen. The forecast after the 6.1 News this evening showed all of the temperatures in white which does not look legible at all on the lime green temperature readings. It looks like a really poor effort from Met Eireann's standards.

TG4's Weather presenters are on The Tommy Tiernan Show right now on RTÉ One. The 3 of them are doing very decent verbal translations of their weather forecast dialogue in the Irish Language on the show. Tommy is doing well with responding to them.
