Why can't something like that happen on british television news.

We have a fair few fire alarms and evacuations... Just has to be American and one step further...

and car bombs outside....
?????

I assume that roxuk is referring to the car bomb outside BBC Television Centre in 2001 that caused News 24 to go off air for a while.

Thats wicked!

Not as spectacular as I expected. Just a couple of newsreaders stumbling slightly and then handing to a break.

Something similar happened to Jan Leeming on BBC news in the early 80's. On that occasion the bulb literally exploded right above her

Hee hee - good clip.
Interesting that they don't used pre-assembled headline packages, but rather each headline is on a seperate VT. They'd have been in right trouble if they weren't.

Well they'd have just faded it out if it wasn't.

Presumably they don't pre-assemble the headline sequence because it is a rolling chanel and there isn't the time

An interesting aside to this is that one of the anchors during this incident: Chuck Roberts is the longest serving anchor at CNN. He was the first person on air at CNN2 (the original name of CNN Headline News) when it was launched in 1981, and has presented news at Headline News ever since.
