Is Ian Payne freelance?

Caught his cricket report on ITN earlier today.
He pops up from time to time on R5L and Radio London but has he left the Beeb?

Isn't there two Ian Payne's around in sports journalism as well - one best known for 5 Live and another on Sky?

I think one who has worked for 5 Live is the same as the one who's worked for Sky Sports. There is another Ian Payne in journalism who seems to have mainly worked on ITV Regional News programmes.

Yes one is at Tyne Tees (if I may call it that!) and presents Lookaround and Tyne Tees news.

Any sightings or reference to other work (usually sports) will be the other one. He is nothing other than a broadcasting whore! Actually I find his delivery rather bland - thankfully not on 5 Live much these days.

Ian Payne I believe does the football show on LBC on a Saturday afternoon, 5Live sport on a Sunday and the rest of the time for ITV News.
In the past he has also presented other shows on both 5live and LBC.

Yeah he is on LBC, they like their public school boys on that radio station.
