My advice... don't take no for an answer - polite but pushy works best. You'll need a thick skin for all the rejection and grab every experience offered and above all don't get bitter and twisted, its the downfall of many. Smile Nothing is guaranteed but If you can do all that, why shouldn't you make it.

Best of luck.

Totally agree with everything written here. But remember it's a fine line between polite but pushy and annoying. Whatever you do make sure people remember you for the right reasons, for doing a great job, and leave them making you want to work with them again. And remember that it isn't always the boss who gets you the next job.

Good!

Make sure you say 'thanks' not 'fanks' at the end! Very Happy :

I would say really well done, you're very natural! And regional accents don't hold people back these days in my opinion, think about Huw Edwards!

As I said last time, it's a feature of the accent. If you're going to keep your accent, keep it fully - don't do a mish-mash because somebody tells you a feature of your accent is "wrong".

Yep. I absolutely love this.

The accent is fine in my opinion, and you have a really great, relaxed style of presentation - especially towards the end of the bulletin (where presenters are traditionally given a degree of leeway to ad lib and loosen up a bit).

I'm sure if you continue like this, it won't be that long before you make it on to our screens. Good luck fella.

I really love your style of presenting you could go a real long way I reckon in the newscasting industry I'm rather jealous! Don't be put off by your accent. Here's what I have to offer (yours puts me to shame!)

Very good. I'd also give you a job newsreading on my radio station any day!

On that note, have you tried contacting any local/community radio stations? Especially on community radio, they're often in need of newsreaders/journalists/script editors. If you have a station in your town/city, do get in touch with them. I know it's not television, but radio gives you the opportunity to perfect your delivery, so when you enter TV newsreading - you can focus/hone in on your visual side.

Btw, you might find these clips handy. BBC News' Maxine Mawhinney conducted a training workshop with some upcoming newsreaders and shared some great tips. I always urge anyone I know who expresses an interest in radio or TV newsreading to watch these clips. For someone like me who often has to compile and read radio news bulletins and create packages for my show, I found the advice excellent and use a lot of the knowledge given.

Accent is one thing grammar is another.
It's should be said as it is written - and don't start that silly argument about school...
Otherwise good.
If there's any hospital / community radio stations try them - I'm sure they'd jump on a new volunteer.

Sorry, to intrude - but this forum reminded me of something a friend did a while back.
He landed some work experience with ITV News and produced his own morning summary.
Would he make a good newsreader?
