my academic and non-academic personae are different. I read the Mirror, Western Mail and watch BBC News 24 personally, but do not discount the validity of the Express, Star or ITVN. You seem to be a very fickle person! You will read The Star but NOT The Mirror!!! Whats the difference?

I tried reading papers such as the Daily Mail, and The Sun, but there just isn't enough news for me ( I know, that is the style of the paper ). So I just stick to The Independent - brilliant paper.

I hope you aren't covered in news print - but yes - The Independent is an excellent newspaper.

Star doesn't take itself seriously and is just as good as the Sun in terms of sports and entertainment news.

I ain't fickle - I'm open minded.

Indy is good - its my favourite national broadsheet.

So you don't like the 'quality compact' then?

Oh I see what you mean!!!

Sorry. Yes, I appreciate it more now its a "compact". Of course it's actually Tabloid, but because that's now a loaded descriptor (Tabloid = Sun/Sport/Mail - all sh!te) the word Compact is being used.

And of course Murdoch is pd off that he didn't think of it first so he's copied the Indy. Just like he copied the Mirror with the Sun, and just like he copied MotD with Soccer Saturday's "Goal of the Week" and "Football First" - which, incidentally, was the name of the old ITV2 version of the Goal Rush - which I believe first aired before SkySports.comTV - another idea copied.

Can't Sky ever have any new ideas?

(This started out as a Huw Edwards thread?!?!?!)

Can anyone provide dates to back up or disprove my claim about SkySports.com TV's Soccer Special and Football First on ITV2?

It's still a broadsheet on a Sunday though. Just Mon-Sat that is compact. (sounds better than tabloid)

Whether it sounds better or not is irrelevant - it's a technical term used by the media.

So instead of calling you TELEVISION I start calling you GOGGLE BOX - just cos it sounds better? Laughing Laughing
