Oh no. more CONSTANT reports and droning on from the USA.

Well said, James.

The only sad thing is that the waters never quite engulf that White House place, where the bloke lives who's far more interested in invading countries than stopping global warming.

That prat would be air lifted out of there before you could say 'global warming' & 'weapons of mass destruction'!

Nothing will happen to him, unless someone takes matters into their own hands.

will he not be doing the Politics Show?

Mr Sopel won't be going on any long trips whilst the Politics Show is on air. A senior and very good correspondent has been sent just for News 24, in addition to BBC Washington's finest, but no presenters..... yet.

The final decision on the scale of the "send" to a story rests higher than dedicated News 24 editors at the moment (it might change). At present, I suspect the BBC TV News management are (professionally) hoping this hits as a category 3, maybe 2 hurricane - whilst Sky have got ready for a Category 5...... Let's see who has windblown egg on their faces....!

Is it just me that realises that if they open BOTH SIDES of the freeway to enable people to travel away from the danger areas, the gridlock would only be as half as bad??

I thought the exact same last night when watching a story on bbc world, and it showed an ariel view, and the on one side it was empty! Why not open them up and perhaps leave one lane closed or something.

That sounds dangerously like Common Sense, which we all know is outlawed under Dubya

One thing that is has proven though is that Thompson is better out in the field, as opposed to sat at the newsdesk.

Not usually one to compliment Fox News, but credit where credit's due and their coverage of Hurricane Rita has been quite watchable. Some guy called Shephard Smith standing out in the rain was providing some comedy moments by being blown over and then a crew in a muiti story car park was good.

Of course it's difficult for them to ruin coverage of a storm with their usual bias.
