Presumably because Sky made a bit of a mess of Katrina, and it took them a while to get people out there - possibly because of preparing for the relaunch.
That said, when the presenters did get there, neither the Beeb nor Sky really used them that much. I saw Sky's for about two days, then they left and the coverage drifted away. Will be interesting to see if Rita is any different.
Who's anchoring the BBC coverage for Rita? I havent seen any of the presenters down there.

I think you're wrong there. Jon's not on in his usual slot this afternoon so I wouldn't be surprised if he'll be on from the US either tonight or tomorrow morning to report on the aftermath.

Seriously, it takes longer to log in, type your message and hit 'Submit Post' on this forum, than it does to type www.msnbc.com in your menu bar and see the 'Watch Live Video' graphic on the front page of their website...
