Yes, it was BBC News.
However, the important story is the one happening now surely, not the one 30 years ago.
It's not as if this wind has come out of the blue (or red, or yellow whatever colour the sky is currently).
They could have kept the forecaster in the studio.
I haven't looked, but I wouldn't be surprised to see other broadcasters doing the same thing.
Reporters stood in howling winds on the beach barely able to speak is standard news production nonsense, but why the forecaster?,

To be fair, at least in the 14:00 hour a different forecaster was in the studio to talk about Ophelia with Sarah only talking about the 1987 storm and weather elsewhere in the UK (where while windy it is nothing out of the ordinary).

Oh dear Lord.
Mind you, I've heard "Met Éireann" mangled by half a dozen presenters and reporters today.

I am looking at Clare Byrne Live on RTÉ One HD on Saorview. The studio audience is understandably very small tonight as a result of today's storm. The tiny numbers of the studio audience are sitting on purple seats for the duration of tonight's programme.
There is also a purple strap on the bottom of the screen giving updates of today's storm & about what happens for tomorrow.

Very curious about the design of this slide - it's very neat but equally looks quite old. I know BBC NI go to a bit more effort than the rest, but surely they didn't quickly design something like this? Is this a template for a special type of announcement we've just not seen before?
And for completeness, the announcement by Paul Reid after MOTD last night.

It looks dated because of the Futura font, which works with the 90s idents on BBC 2 but not so well on BBC 1.
