RTE One carrying RTE News Now (which in turn is simulcasting RTE Radio 1 with a camera in the studio) at present.

Is this a first? I know Morning Ireland goes out on RTE News Now with studio cameras every morning, but is this the first time the News Now service has gone out on a broadcast channel?

Morning Ireland doing a sterling job, I have to say.

BBC One NI have had a red ticker running alongside the BBC Breakfast clock since 7.30am, giving general information on school/college closures and directing towards Radio Ulster/Foyle, next Newsline bulletin.

Is the ticker in HD ? I noticed on a recent visit to Ireland, the 'BBC Newsline' DOG seemed to be HD, while the programme itself was upscaled SD

How recent? I thought the BBC NI News studio had been upgraded to HD a year or two ago, around the time they also got the VR stuff. (Leaving Wales as the only BBC Nation with an SD news operation)

RTE One have now left the extended Morning Ireland but have a special TV bulletin at 10.00 with Una O'Hagan.

I have to give them kudos this morning. They've stepped up to the plate.

EDIT: and a further RTE News Special at 11.00.

The ticker was in place from the top of the programme at 6am.

BBC Newsline is indeed in HD and has been for some time.

The RTE News Special started at 10.30am and is being presented by Bryan Dobson. RTE One rejoined RTE News Now briefly (which was showing the RTE Radio 1 Sean O'Rourke Show) from c. 10.15am.

RTE 2 has been showing a weather alert ticker all morning.

Oh right. This was early September, in a hotel in Cork. Definitely BBC 1 HD NI (I don't know where it was sourced from, probably the local cable co ?), other network programmes looked HD, but Newsline didn't, (not even live studio shots)

RTE One broke from the News Special at 12:30pm (and went back to News Now) but the One is coming up shortly.

I wonder if TV3 will extend the 5.30 bulletin by replacing The Six O'Clock Show?
