This really does seem to be a developing disaster. News 24 still saying 50 mind.

Funny that only yesterday a certain reporter from a certain network was saying "little damage and no loss of life"

I really does seem Katrinas been a bit more of a bitch than first thought. Oh and who is that Fox News idiot reporting last night? Utter wolly.

ITV News are saying 55 are dead, but there are fears it might rise to 80.

Could have been any one of a number. There was a man called Orlando whose name made things very confusing in the two-ways.

"Over now to Orlando in Louisiana..." while I'm thinking "but Orlando is in Florida".

Also confusing - the use of the two letter state abbreviation.

"Hurricane Katrina's about to hit LA". Confused Bloody hell, it was in the Gulf of Mexico last time I looked.

I caught some of that Greta Van something-or-other programme this morning. That woman can't open her mouth properly and looks and sounds as if she's trying to do ventriloquism. Maybe she spent a lot of money on her teeth and wants to make sure we can see them at all times.

Can't see a TV at the moment, but the Fox News website is reporting up to 80 as well, and has a very large headline saying "This is our tsunami". I think that the comparison is not quite appropriate. I mean that both are huge natural disasters, but surely it should be allowed to stand as a natural disaster on its own, without comparing it to a freak wave that killed hundreds of 1000s of people?

What is the current value of an American life compared to an Asian life?

Very overdramatic these American folk. Sorry to be blunt, and I know us British don't experience extreme weather but dont they just over do it a tad? Confused

"This is Our Tsunami" being one clear point. Rolling Eyes

CNN are quoting it's a 'TRAGEDY OF GREAT PROPORTIONS'.

Yeah right! 60 people dead in the richest country in the world. Billions will be spent on getting the place back to normal, probably by the end of the year. It's been well over a year since the tsunami and they're still homeless.

Much as it's not all Americans who believe this tripe, a lot do, and the US media carries a lot of the blame for this.

600 people have just died in Iraq and not a mention is made. When the US are indirectly responsible for these deaths, you'd have thought they'd have given it some thought.

Come on all you sane Americans, let your voices be heard and speak up against this awful self-interest.

It's heart-breaking to see many people losing their homes, but at the same time there are many people in the Tsunami affected areas from January's disaster, that are still homeless and children losing their Parents.
