First of all, if this looks familiar, it is essentially a re-post of the information others have mentioned on some US TV sites, but because I think many of you will also be interested, here is a list of some Miami stations that are providing streaming video of their Hurricane Francis coverage:
WPLG-10 (ABC, Miami): home page
WSVN-7 (Fox, Miami): home page
WTVJ-6 (NBC, Miami): home page
WFOR-4 (CBS, Miami): home page
The quality of the streaming video varies.
How are the international news channels doing? CNNI's coverage of Charley appeared to be pretty hit-and-miss (no pun intended), with good coverage coming only during simulcasts of CNN(USA)'s Larry King Live and Newsnight . Perhaps the network, ever cautious to be seen as truly international, did not want to be accused on spending significantly more time on a US hurricane than on, say, an Asian typhoon. During Andrew's 1992 strike, CNNI simulcast its domestic network for much of the (European) afternoon, including most of Daybreak and Morning News .
