How did the various English Regions introduce their programmes? Did they use generic "This is BBC 1 <insert name of region>" annos over the symbols, or did they use specific annos? If the latter... who did they use to voice the symbols? Any old random person from the news room... or a local radio DJ or newsreader... or someone else?

linsey doyle voiced over the midlands ident. although its worth noting you very rarely hear network announcers over midlands idents anyway.

The Hull Special was terrific. Great confrontation footage between Huntsmen and Antis, nicely handled pub-based debate with Peter Levy, report from France from the excellent Paul Murphy, beautiful graphics and nice bit of music (Vivaldi I think).

Points West was OK- just repeats mostly of old reports.

Points West, undoubtedly bias towards the pro-hunters, really is going overboard. They went on their 'politics bus' to a rural seat and found that nobody really cared either way, but continue to devote practically the whole show every day to it. It has now been the top story for at least a week. I understand that some find it important, but do they not realise that a majority of their viewers are in cities and towns like Swindon, Bristol and Bath?

Hull Special was well-balanced on the whole. I had seen some of the report material earlier in the week, but they did make the effort to get lots of fresh material into the half hour. By the sounds of it the special prog was made at very short notice, so they did well to compile something that was so comprehensive.

It would be great if the regions did more of this kind of stuff - but it is costly to make it. The old half hour documentary slot would have been the ideal platform for this kind of thing - so much better than that trendy, frothy 'Inside Out' nonsense.

Can any of the 'bbc insiders' tell me what the ratings where for last night's special?
