A few people getting West Midlands and Warwickshire mixed up. It's in the county of Warwickshire in the West Midlands region, the area is covered by Warkwickshire police, but it's West Midlands Ambulance Service as they are regional.

Well considering that the BBC seemingly think its acceptable to call the west midlands the midlands I can't see them being too bothered about that.

Indeed they do, they are pretty much one force in all but names these days.

and the operations department are based in Worcestershire, as are the press bureau. Complicated!

'Strategic Alliance' is just cover for a wholesale merger, uniforms, equipment, HR, control rooms etc. (even their email addresses are @warwickshireandwestmercia.pnn.police.uk now)
