Hi,
I wonder if anyone can give me advice. I'm due to interview a BBC correspondent and I am hoping to send off my questions today. I really want to have the right questions and to have everything as I want it before I send them off but I am having difficulty. I'm afraid that some of my questions could prove too personal or even offensive. I am interviewing this correspondent - who is very well known - about an incident and it is an incident which is very personal and I would guess emotional testing. I have never interviewed anyone before. How do I know I have the right questions? Sometimes I am wanting to ask questions that he has been asked before so I can get more information but I don't know if thats such a good idea if I have a limited amount of questions to ask. Should I do this - what would give my interview an entirely new angle?
Many thanks

Urrr is it Frank Garder? Anyway, what's your interview for, a student paper? Go with whatever you feel is appropriate, it's your task at the end of the day.

My interview is for the Irish Times, I'm only new to all this stuff. I haven't even left school yet - I think I'm going to have a nervous breakdown thinking about it!

We can't do your homework for you especially since your placement doesn't really have much to do with TV Presentation.Try the Lounge next time Smile . But what sorts of questions have you got prepared already?

Sorry, I didn't realise that this topic was inappropriate to post here! sorry. Some of the questions I have done so far are one's touching on are the dangers of journalism etc. I want to ask some questions about his early career and interest in the Middle East so I can have some general background to include in my article. Do you think it would be okay to ask questions like that when the main body of my article is on the events in Saudi Arabia in 2004 and the dangers of journalism. There a lot of questions which I want to ask but most of the one's which I would like to ask are quite - as I would imagine personal. I don't want to ask the same old questions.

Ask what you like, but don't use over emotive language. If he doesn't want to answer something, he won't. Don't try to pry too deeply into emotions - keep it simple. And you probably won't get much joy on a Saturday.
