Harry Gration to leave Look North

Split from The Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Thread (October 2020)

I’ve heard people refer to their 6pm ITV regional news as About Anglia, which hasn’t been on since New Kids on the Block were in the charts

Didn't 'About Angia' become the name of a 30 minute regional programme with Helen McDermott, shown before the 6pm 'Anglia News' bulletin in the late 90s?

Yes it was (although shown at 6.30 - before the national news moved). Was one of a range of new regional programmes launched when ‘Home and away’ moved to channel 5. About Anglia was on Tuesdays and Thursdays hosted by Helen McDermott or Caroline Oldrey. Just a magazine style slot.

Although totally off topic for this thread!
Meridian AM and Ballyboy gave kudos
Harry's departure was featured on Newswatch this week
Steve in Pudsey
In what context? Acknowledging his contribution or moaning that the farewell was over the top?
Acknowledging his contribution. It was the 'and finally' item - montage of clips etc.
jolly turnip
Of course Harry left the BBC for a year in the 90s which is often forgotten about.

This article, on his return to Leeds from Southampton, explains this quite well
During that break from the BBC, Harry turned up on, of all things, a DFS/Northern Upholstery advert in a newsreader-style role!

I had a copy of this particular ad on a YouTube years ago, but no-one was bothered enough to clip and re-upload it... Wink
