No question in my mind about whether this is newsworthy - and like his mother, Harry sells, but it certainly shouldn't be at the expense of all other news.

What it does do though, and news organisations love this, is give a human angle to a bigger story. We know thousands of British soldiers have been fighting there, but having the personal view of the one soldier everyone in the country will recognise and have an opinion on gives it a whole new angle - whether he's royal or not.

Well put! It makes Harry and the royals seem more human. Good publicity for the Windsors. I feel almost patriotic.

Breaking on N24 that a Illinois shopping center may have been attacked in the US given a tiny mention, then back to Harry.

That is quite disgusting.

What I find surprising is that the BBC UK homepage is normal, but the International homepage has gone into breaking news mode about Harry.

The Illinois shopping centre article is also unsettlingly short.

I never thought I would see the day. People complaining that the ITV News coverage was too comprehensive, there were too many international correspondents in use and tonight's News at Ten is too long

The BBC has also extended its Ten O'Clock offering to an hour! (edit: presumably an hour?)

Extended 10 o'clock News according to Ellie in the 8pm update.
I suppose it will come from the News 24 studio again as Newsnight will need the studio just before 10:30.

The main Sky.com homepage has it as Breaking News and an image now of Harry and Will in bowler hats.

ITV was typical tonight. My folks were watching and getting completely fed up of them not showing any other news.

Grrr, well that's bad news considering the mess they made of it yesterday. Had this been a proper news story then I'm sure people could put up with the less then professional results - unfortunately it's not, so why highlight their shortcomings during this temporary period of studio "musical chairs".

LOL.

Re: Illinois - somebody farts in America and they go into terrorist alert! The only story there really is that it isn't yet another shooting spree. Thank god for once we're not inflicted with yet another US domestic story.

Along with Harry there are at least a couple more breaking stories tonight which warrant more attention than that.

Just so that we can see the same pictures of Harry on his gun - over and over again? I bet they'll pan it out with pics of Andrew in the Falklands "This isn't the first time a Royal..." BLAH BLAH BLAH!

In the words of Charlie Brooker "look, look, look, look, look again, look.."

Well, there's a lot more time to prepare tonight. Last night they had to move studios at short notice, and as such a lot was rushed.

True....not to mention that it starts at the top of the hour - should be easy really...Matthew and Anitta leave at 9:55 as usual....weather....countdown into the 10 o'clock News.

However....with the problems we've seen with the 1, I'm sure there'll be some sort of mess up. Laughing

Couldn't News 24 go to SportsDay, from 9:45 till 9:57, as it won't air in the 10 Newshour, so The Ten can rehearse.
