Just a quick question, where is this set, for "The World" (on BBC FOUR and BBC WORLD)?

It is opposite BBC World's set. It is the same studio, within the world newsroom.

Just wondering from this wide shot of the "Daily Politics Show" set today whether any of it is actually CSO. If you have ever watched the programme you may notice that they have managed some seemingly "impossible" camera angles if the entire set is real for some of their "close-ups" during interviews.

These type of wide views would surely require either CSO or such a flexible set that it can be moved around silently during a programme.

My main suspicion for CSO insert Very Happy is in the two wall panels in the top-centre of the cap, which seem to have slightly different colouring, and no light reflection on the floor. This would allow space for cameras to move in/out for the necessary shots we get to see.

Indeed I can Wink

The overhead camera is locked off, and the area highlighted on the image above is fake; it is superimposed over the image of the overhead camera. In reality, there is no set wall/plasma there, a camera is positioned there.

Many thanks. I got the wrong panels (I thought it was the two to the right of that one) , but at least I wasn't too far out. I'm pleased I can still get it (almost) right as just a viewer interested in such things Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

How strange! I thought it was those panels too. These are the areas I thought looked fake...

The first of those three panels looks more real because the bottom bit follows on more accurately from the big screen on the left, whereas on the other 2 panels the bottom bit is just white. Although if I'm being honest I would've thought all three panels were fake! I highlighted the wall on the left because it just looks wrong, and there seems to be a shadow of something much darker towards the edge of the picture. Could just be the quality of the picture I suppose.

Although having another look, I agree with Lee that all three of those panels could be fake. This particular Daily Politics set has been reconfigured so many times I have no idea. I said the one I pointed out in my highlighting above was fake because a couple of months ago I saw some cameras being moved and they were covered up by that fake panel, looks like it has been changed yet again since then. The use of tight camera angles for the main 2 pres shot against the projector screen, and the slanted angle for stand-up pieces against the other projector suggests that they are all fake.

I'm pleased "intheknow" and "Lee" are as confused as me.

I don't think it is all three panels that have been CSO (or CGI inserted though a locked image). It's either the first panel (on the left) or the other two (purely because of the different lighting/reflections).

I am also interested in the idea of the "mask" or "overlay" (is that right?) on the left hand side of the cap from the top-view.........(I can see either a camera pedestal or someone's trainers under the image!)

Can we expect a new look to BBC World News?
Will this show be part of the 'fresh look' being given to the BBC News output?

No BBC World only had a revamp about 18 months ago. There may be some tweaks to the set and graphics, but no other changes will take place there.
