It looks like it's gonna be exactly the same "shoebox" shape as the N6 set! (Apart from presumably having a black/dark floor (for Newsnight's benefit - it wouldn't matter for Newsround and Working Lunch), and no red horizontal stripe at "waist height").
But the red stripe in the national set is projected onto the screen and is not actually there. This is evident from Breakfast which is minus the stripe. I have one question about the whole process, if both sets were going to be exactly the same, why did Breakfast need to move in the first place. The BBC still have to pay extra money for staffing two studios, and both sets are going to be a flexible space. Perhaps the floor will be black, and this is the whole reason Breakfast had to move studio, the colour of the floor.

N6 needs less staff to man it I believe

Newsnight's also getting a remix to the theme tune: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/4764869.stm

Not sure I'd want to admit to having watched a Justin Timberlake video, let alone remembered the details of it, Spencer

If this background is an indication of the new graphics then they are very similar to the start of the current title sequence (which I quite like anyway):

Why can't they push the screens together so that they meet at the corners, instead of using a "mirrored-prism" to cover the gap as they do in N6. Is there a technical reason why this isn't possible.
An even better solution would simply be to have one bank of screens at a 45 degree angle at each corner. I know some space would be lost, but not much surely?

I'm surprised that they haven't made it more like all other BBC News theme tunes long before now.
Imagine...
Basically, the familiar Newsnight tune, but with the usual generic BBC News "drumbeat" running beneath it (wouldn't the pace of the familiar NN notes have to be slowed down to fit the rythm of the "drumbeats"?), and with the main Newsnight notes realised as "whooshes" and "beeps" (etc) - i.e. like other BBC News theme tunes - rather than as guitar notes.
Well I for one find him rather easy on the eye. Don't give a stuff about the music though.
I'll second that!

It is a problem with BBC North West opting in and out, rather than the national titles. No idea why, but for some reason when they opt back in to Network for the title sequence after regional headlines, they lag behind by about half a second or slightly less, then suddenly catch up which results in the jump.

Is it just me, or on the news summary just now on BBC One with Jane Hill, was there not a very noticeable crack between some panels of the screen behind her right shoulder (when she was standing at the start of the summary).
I struggle to believe these are Barco screens- their quality (best highlighted on Breakfast) isn't that great, and together with the job they've made of the corners, I really don't think they've been installed properly.
